IOSN Activities 2007/8
From May 2007 to March 2008 InWEnt and IOSN ASEAN+3 jointly organize several networking activities to develop a local FOSS ecosystem as well as training courses for FOSS trainers and advocates from Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.[More Info]
Asia Source II
Over 130 IT professionals of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from more than 27 countries had gathered at Sukabumi, Indonesia for a nine-day Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) training camp called “ASIA SOURCE II.” The key objective was to promote the use of FOSS for social and economic development and to build a network of FOSS practitioners and trainers with Asia.[More Info]
Supporting Vietnam to Generate Business out of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
This EU/BMZ project supports cooperation between European and Vietnamese enterprises on Open Source Software. Until 2009 the twinning project will train Vietnamese software enterprises and developers and initiate joint software development projects in FOSS with European IT companies. It thereby aims at an affordable and sustainable ICT model for developing countries and the strengthening of the local ICT service sector. [More Info]
FOSS@Work Conference Workshop
The International Open Source Network, InWEnt-Capacity Building International, and UP Manila are jointly hosting a conference-workshop on Free and Open Source Software for Small-to-Medium Enterprises in the IT industry. Called FOSS@Work ('FOSS at work'), the event is held at Heritage Hotel, Manila, Philippines from November 12th to 15th, 2006 and brings together interested SMEs from all over the ASEAN+3 region. FOSS 'Train the Trainers' courses
During August - October 2006, InWEnt, APDIP, the IOSN Secretariat and IOSN ASEAN+3 jointly organize two regional training courses for FOSS trainers and examination proctors in Thailand and the Philippines. The objective of the courses is to develop training capacities in the ASEAN+3 region to provide high-quality and low-cost FOSS training, as well as certified LPI (Linux Professional Institute) examinations. COSGov Vietnam International Conference and Expo - Building cooperation via open source for e-governance
More than 300 IT-Experts, government representatives and entrepreneurs gathered in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi from 28-30 September 2005 for the international conference “COSGov Vietnam - Building cooperation via open-source for eGovernance”. COSGov is the first ever event in Vietnam to extensively cover the topic of free and open-source software (FOSS) for e-governance. [More Info]
FOSS Training in Khmer
The National Information Communications Technology Development Authority (NiDA) and it@inwent provide customized and localized training courses on Linux administration in Khmer language. The courses target Linux administrators and trainers for Linux administration. Moreover, the initiative establishes a pool of 250 to 300 trainers capable of teaching the use of FOSS end-user applications in Khmer language (word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, etc.).
