    it@foss Alumnus Chantra invites to the first BarCamp Angkor, which has been scheduled for March 24-25, 2012 in Siem Reap province at Build Bright University. BarCamp Siem Reap is 2 days-long gathering for IT & business professionals, bloggers, social media specialists and university students to share and learn of new innovation of technology, business ideas and mindset and the way of people communicate and get connected. Content is provided by participants — often focusing on but not limited to early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats.   • Asia Source III participants win ISIF Award 2011 for "Innovation on access provision" [it@inwent]

    The Information Society Innovation (ISIF) Award 2011 is a celebration of innovative ICT solutions that have contributed to social development in the Asia Pacific region. The program received 46 nominations across the 4 categories from 17 economies in the Asia Pacific.

  • Free Software: Engine of Development in ASEAN [it@inwent]

    The 1st Interdisciplinary Alumni Conference in Southeast Asia took place in the Vietnamese Capital of Hanoi at the beginning of July 2010. Leading theme was the regional integration of the ASEAN with regard to different topical aspects, and the participants filled the topic with life. One of the nine themes of the conference was the issue of "Free and Open Software in Public Health", which brought together it@foss Alumni with other key stakeholders from the health sector in ASEAN.

  • Asia Source 3 meeting reinforces Asian Free and Open Source Software movement [it@inwent]

    - 150 representatives from Asian NGOs and SMEs gather for open source camp
    - Open source advocates discuss tools, business models, and communities
    - Theme of Asia Source 3: Building Capacities and Empowering Humanity through FOSS

    While most technology conferences happen as swanky, slick, and well-rehearsed events, the recently concluded Asia Source 3 took the opposite track and ran a camp that was spartan yet spontaneous. From November 7 to 12, 2009, Asia Source 3 gathered 150 representatives from all over Asia in the Philippines to discuss developments in open source. For those six days, the campers lived in a communal environment that married fun and relaxation with exchange of ideas.
